CEH’s ‘Communities, Discrimination and Disability’ show, 3CR

On the 3rd of December this year, 3CR radio ran a 12-hour continuous broadcast to celebrate International Day of People Living with a Disability.

The whole 12-hour broadcast can be found here: https://www.3cr.org.au/disabilityday2019

Hats off to Pauline Ventura from 3CR who organised 12 hours of continuous broadcasting in 24 x 30 minute slots, including hosting live discussions and pre-recorded interviews with people living with a disability of CALD and First Nation backgrounds in their home. Amazing effort.

Cultural understandings around the causes and impact of disability can lead to discrimination against people living with a disability and their carers. This, in turn, can stop people from accessing services for fear of facing their community’s disapproval.
Toula Elefsiniotis- CEH Communications Lead and Sophie Dutertre – CEH Senior Project Officer (both pictured), discuss this and more in their 30-minute slot in the afternoon around the Understanding the NDIS Project. Their contribution can be found HERE
