Since 1994, CEH has worked towards improving services for refugees and migrants in Victoria and across Australia.

On 17th September 2024, CEH celebrated its 30th anniversary with staff and friends from organisations that have worked with us over the years on projects, training and partnerships. A great opportunity for all of us at CEH to reconnect and catch up on what’s happening in the sector.

To celebrate its 30th Birthday, CEH brought together a panel of 3 former managers (Michal Morris, Pamela Rodrigues and Bernice Murphy) as well as a long-term friend of CEH, Natalija Nesvadba (Diversity Manager at Regis Aged Care).

Together they evoked key milestones in the life of CEH, from its inception in 1994, the introduction of the Health Literacy concept in Australia, the start of Health Translations in 2015 to the development of a Cultural Competence framework, which now offers resources and online assessment tools. With their decades of experience, the four speakers discussed new directions for CEH and how to support individuals to become advocates for their own health, regardless of their language or ethnicity.

At CEH, we remain committed to working for the cause of multiculturalism and health equity for all. Here is looking forward to the next 30 years!
